From the moment stepped on board we loved it. Cruised the first night til around 9.30 & didn’t even realised the weather outside was cold, wet & horrible. Inside in the dining room the safety instructions happened then a delightful evening meal. Tables are a set plan for the evening meal & otherwise sit where you want. All meals were awesome & the drinks selection is extensive. A lot of attention is given to entertaining us with onshore excursions, relax with a book in the library lounge, enjoy a coffee in the rear bottom lounge next to the paddles or sit up on the sundeck. A highlight was the excursion to the Ngaut Ngaut aboriginal reserve with indigenous guides & heaps of rock carvings. For excitement a ride in the tender was also awesome. This was an experience we will remember for a very long time, if not forever. All staff & crew were friendly, helpful & courteous. Rooms are compact but also adequate but the beds are a bit too firm. Food was absolutely delicious & plentiful. Would have no hesitation in doing this trip again just for the relaxation & pampering.

This would never have been on our holiday to-do list but our daughter recently started working on the Princess so we thought we would see what she gets up to. What a pleasant surprise! The cabins are quite small but certainly adequate for the time you spend in them. There is very little movement when the boat is on the river, the only reason you knew you were moving was the landscape moving past the windows. The staff are AMAZING and bend over backwards to ensure the guests are happy. The food - OMG the food was absolutely faultless and way, way too much! Dinner was assigned seating at the same table each night, with full on 5-star service. Breakfast and lunch gave you the opportunity to meet more passengers as you could sit where you wanted. We took snacks to have in our room but they remained unopened for the whole trip. There were just enough daily activities on board to not make it boring, but sometimes it was nice just to sit and watch the amazing landscape of the river pass by. Onshore activities were pretty good, the only disappointment on this particular trip was the thunderstorm that interrupted the BBQ and nocturnal tour. But once the storm passed a little walk away from the boat gave you the most amazing night sky you will ever see (the boat moors in the middle of an International Dark Sky Reserve so the night sky is exceptionally clear). Kudos to all the staff for making this trip very enjoyable.

The Murray Princess is a lovely near 50 year old paddle steamer, that paddles up and down the Murray River in SA. The crew was friendly and great at their jobs. The boat however needs to consider an upgrade. The beds (mostly single) are hard and the pillows need to be thrown overboard. We spent seven nights on board and we’re very uncomfortable. There is no air in the cabins - except via a “quaint” vent from the bowels of the ship, in the bathroom. Add to this the necessity of running a generator all night to keep food cold, the bank of the River lit with floodlights and running the AC in the below deck inside cabins, not conducive to comfort. There is a Sundeck that could be fitted with a multitude of solar panels, add a few big batteries and the generator could remain for emergencies only - it is SA after all - the State of renewable power, not diesel run generators. Overall though, a ‘nice’ holiday - not a wonderful one.

This cruise had been on my bucket list for years and did not disappoint. The paddle steamer was much larger than I expected and cabins although small were very well appointed and serviced daily. The meals were all 5 star and the staff were all so welcoming, helpful and friendly. Entertainment on board was wide and varied and Russell was the perfect person for the job. He entertained us daily with guitar/singing/bingo/trivia/horse race etc etc etc.

We did the 4 day Murray Princess cruise . The cruise is very relaxing with delicious food and very friendly staff. A great experience. The river is so beautiful. I hadn't expected such gorgeous scenery. The boat was great, just big enough with several lounges. There wasn't any over crowding in any part of the boat. The excursions were good too. The cabins although small were well set out and we didn't have any problems with space. Beds were comfy. Only thing I can recommend is that the coffee shop be opened at 7am for us coffee lovers who love a good cappuccino first thing in the mornings. There was a coffee/tea station available 24 hours a day with biscuits and a big fruit basket which was appreciated. All in all a fabulous experience and I recommend everyone take a trip down the Murray River.

We did the 3 night cruise and booked a stateroom. It was large and a good layout but we were hoping to be able to relax in our room and just watch the lovely scenery. Unfortunately being in the third level our window view was of the top of the trees and sky. Apparently the second level gets the full view. The food was good and plentiful with the ability to sit where you want for breakfast and lunch but at a set table for dinner. We had a full cruise, 109 people, and it would have been good to move around at dinner to meet more like minded passengers. We booked the Monarto Safari Park which was great fun and also enjoyed the dragonfly boat. Some of the entertainment was average and the library needs a good update including magazines. It was very pleasant sitting at the front of the boat with cocktail or coffee to watch the scenery but thought we could have done that in our room as well. My husband was disappointed the paddle steamer was not steam driven.

We actually did the 7 night cruise and cannot speak highly enough of the itinerary, food and crew. Highly organised and service second to none. It was a real home from home feel and the food a real credit to the kitchen team. There was daily entertainment and most evenings music by Bill, an old school muso who played keyboard, sax and clarinet. He was clearly versatile and talented though it would have been nice if he had played something a little more modern than music from the 40's and 50's, occasionally. A great cruise and we shall definitely being doing it again.

Our recent 4-night cruise on the Murray Princess from Mannum in South Australia was a very enjoyable experience. The vessel carries up to 120 passengers and was close to fully booked on our cruise.
Although they could not be classed ‘luxurious’, the tiny self-contained cabins were clean and comfortable with adequate storage for clothing however the beds rather hard.
The clientele would best be described as mature active, but provision is made for the less mobile. The three decks are serviced by a lift.
The food was uniformly excellent, though not conducive to maintaining a stable weight! The public bars and lounges were pleasant and spacious and the overall service was friendly and relaxed but efficient. The vessel is fully air conditioned.
On-shore activities such as a night-time bush barbeque, a vineyard visit and a trip to a wool shed are included and surprisingly interesting.
One of the outstanding experiences is a visit to the Nagut Nagut Aboriginal Reserve, where archaeological investigations at the base of the towering cliffs have uncovered relics of occupation more than 10,000 years old and where members of the river-side tribes can explain the significance of ancient rock engravings which depict the river animals. A climb to the top of the massive cliffs gives spectacular views and takes you into another harsher desert environment which also shows evidence of its previous inhabitants.
The only caveat we would mention is that it can be extremely hot during the high summer months with a possibility of day-time temperatures above 40C.

This was a most fantastic trip. Personally I have never wanted to go on a cruise but this was so
different. The staff and accom. was excellent and the food was something else. We loved all the
on shore and on board entertainment and have no complaints.
Also we have told our sister and brother in law about it and they are going to take a trip next year.
Thank you John and Val Knowles.
